Rental Upgrade Nearing the end of renovation - Kitchen cabinet handles - Kitchen/Basement flooring

 

In this episode, we see the kitchen cabinet handles installed, the kitchen flooring installed and the basement carpet squares installed, plus some much-dreaded stairwell painting.

Sooooo close to the end. Must keep going. Don't stop. One foot in front of the other. Keep going. Bought this place to update and put a tenant in for another income bucket. Most of the work needed is cosmetic and we probably don't even need to update the kitchen to the extent we will be doing. It's our belief that a modernized property will bring a better monthly price and help keep those good tenants in place long term. It will also allow us peace of mind knowing we are offering a nice property and a fair price and the majority of components within a house are up to modern standards. Painting tables, trays and other things black - Plus a black SNAKE in my house!

 

Yes, a snake! In my house, in the middle of the freakin city! He did not meet his maker on this day, he was set back on his turf. He did give me the idea for the "Back in Black" theme tho. I used Krylon paint in black, and copper for some of the projects and Heirloom Traditions Paint in Polo for another. All of these projects feel industrial to me. They are a mighty shadow in a little package. That Heirloom Traditions Paint in the color Polo is my favorite. It has a blueish undertone. Some light it looks totally black, but in other light, you see the slightest hint of navy. LOVE This is a fun video. I ran away with the "back in black" thing. Garage sale this weekend - What can I find to sell - Is there any money to be made?

 

Just showing off a few of the items I believe I'll be taking to my friend's sale this weekend. Can I make any money? Will I allow myself to even sell some of these pieces? Not even I know the answers to those questions. Likely some of these items will just come back home with me.

I hesitate to call this sale a garage sale because her items are from a warehouse she stores her home staging pieces in. Everything is always so nice and her husband sells great "garage/yard/tools". In the midwest, no one calls them "tag sales" but that's what I think these should be called...garage sale just sounds so cheap. A bit of shopping and then the giant thrift haul with one little DIY thrown in 'cause I couldn't NOT do it. Painting is the easiest, most affordable, and drastic thing you can do to revamp any item into a gorgeous display-worthy piece.

Thrift Find Redefine - Making plastic look like aged copper - Spray paint greenery - Glass vase DIY

 

 

I had this can of Krylon Hammered Copper spray paint and it was burning a hole in my imagination. I began by taking a Dollar Tree planter and painting it copper then dry brushed a couple of green chalk paints to resemble an aged copper pot.

Next, I spray painted a thrifted ceramic pitcher copper and added greenery. Next up, I did a little painty-painty on a thrifted topiary tree by spray painting the leaves, and finally, a glass vase got "the treatment"

Always looking for fun, quirky, vintage, one-of-a-kind, or antique items to decorate with, or resell. Come shopping with me to see what they have. A Facebook post indicated they had received a bunch of new items so my interest perked. Sure enough everywhere I looked was different. Garden path transformation - Brilliant Spring flowers - Popcorn Drift Rose in landscaping

Sooo many flowers in the gardens this time of year. The Japanese Purple Iris is in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous. Glowing pink geraniums against the Iris is stunning. I added a couple yellow marigolds just for contrast. I haven't loved a garden like this in 25 years. It makes me so happy. If I am not out in it, I am gazing at it from my office window. 5 Ingredient Chicken Curry for the crockpot or stovetop

 I have been making this chicken curry for about 5 years now. It is by far the easiest, most filling meal I can put together. Normally I always have the ingredients in the pantry.

My husband works close to a traditional Indian food store so he picks up the seasoning packet mix but you can use any curry powder and I have. I find I need a lot of normal curry powder so that is why we tried this mix and now it's our favorite. Depending on how many you are feeding (or how much they eat. Teenagers.) you can add another chicken breast or two. Anything over 4-5 chicken breasts and I add another can of the coconut milk, another can of the crushed tomatoes, more veggies to taste, and two packets of our mix. Recipe: 3-4 chicken breast 1 can of coconut milk curry powder to taste. I use about 3 tablespoons 1 large can of crushed or chopped tomato or 2 cans of Rotel 1 bag of frozen veggies of your choice. Mixed veggies are good too. I do add the chicken frozen which is perfect for the slow cooker, just cook it for about 6-7 hours adding veggies in the last 20 minutes. #chickencurry #easychickencurry #homemadechickencurry

'70s-vibe BoHo Hippy Bangle-Bracelt Garland, Lamp Shade, Vintage Flower and so much more

Follow me on this journey to DIY some cool items with bangle bracelets. Without planning, these DIYs came out so 1970's Boho hippy. I hope this video gives you the inspiration to do something with leftover bangles or if you find a really good deal on them as I did while thrifting. After buying multiple bags of bracelets for .20 each, I knew I had to make something with them. My first thought was a curtain addition. I wanted them to free flow down the edge of my curtains where they meet in the middle. It was so easy, I just clipped the top bracelet with the top of the corner on the curtain ring clip. Easy peasy! No, not like it seems. The rafia from the hula skirts is thin. I will have to tie the bracelets together with something a bit stronger like jute twine, rope, or yarn. Opening and closing these curtains means you have to give them a tug and the first time I tried, I broke the rafia strip. It's ok, everything is ok ;) Next, I added bracelets to a lampshade. Sooo '70s maaan! I made a flower out of bangle bracelets. I made a boho thingamajig that is super cute on my cliffhanger. I added a few to a vase as a classy topper that is also modern and chic. 20 Random Things from my world.. 'cause, why not? Last minute from me means late night editing = Silly

 

This video came to life in about 3 hours.  I have so many other things going on that none of them are finished and therefore not ready for the editing board.  I touch on everything from crashed paint jobs to braided hair and new sunglasses.  Of course, you'll see flowers, a new landscape, trash to treasure and a quick peek at a painting I did a couple years back.  

I'm telling you EVERYTHING is in this video.  Not the kitchen sink but I did go to a thrift store that was having 80% of everything.   They needed to clean the place out for a remodel.

Walk through this giant antique mall with me Part 2! For this kind of place, I found a lot of pretty good deals. Usually, these places are too overpriced to be called thrift. I was able to find many items at a fair price here. I got so much excellent footage that I split this video into two. Part two is right here and now and includes the haul. This second part is my favorite. Has more furniture and bigger items.

After shopping, I had a chance to chat with the owners. Great folks, very informative. I imagine if you have seen something you just couldn't live without and were willing to pay to ship they could make something work for you. Just how many fabric items can you make pillows with? I quickly came up with 4 that you have too!

 

I decided to raid my linen closet and find something to make pillows with.  Most of this stuff has been in this drawer for years.  I sometimes use maybe 10% of what is in here.  Well, today I am showing you how you too can raid your linen closet and make pillows.  

I use placemats, fancy towels, and table runners for a no-sew project.  Essentially you need hot glue and or no-sew fabric tape and an iron.  Also, some cute tassels or dodads can be added for fun and whimsy.

Turning a free dresser into something primative cottage like or vintage farmhousey to sell

 Using Debi's DIY chalk paint I give this worn-out dresser a completely new look. It really needs new drawer bottoms and a new top but with the price of lumber right now I decided to NOT fix everything. It all still works very well so keeping it simple was my best option. I used wallpaper to line the bottom of the drawers which keeps the contents nice and clean.

The paint colors I used were Bohemian Blue, Gypsy Green, and Crinoline white. It was coated with 3 coats of Krylon Clear Matte spray paint and left to dry overnight. This dresser/buffet feels very cottage core to me. Like it could have been in some french country house, passed down for generations. I am getting a new dining room set tomorrow so we will see if it looks good with that. I will likely be selling this piece at our summer garage sale but until then it is sitting pretty in a corner of my dining room. I've already used it as a mini serving buffet and it holds a bunch of tablecloths, napkins, and in one drawer tax papers and receipts. LOL! Thrift shop a high-end store for home decor, craft items and furniture plus the haul of items bought

Today we stroll around my favorite high-end thrift store. They have the best decor, clothing, and furniture options in this small town. Usually, I do not look at clothing but I know where to go when I need something nice for a special occasion. Beginning with this video I intend on posting a thrift-with-me video every Sunday.
