Dumpster dive

Found it on the curb...
LOOOOVE how the legs are set at an angle.
Solid wood.  About broke my back hauling it to the car.
I have something extra cool planned for this table.
Keep your eye open for the "after"!

After hanging out with the table for a little while, I decided the corners needed less distraction.
This is the end result.
Loooooove how this turned out.

Finally finished

Grandpa's homemade side table, before and after. Chalk painted

When my hubby's grandfather passed, we cleaned out his home.
He loved to make small pieces of wood furniture and birdhouses from scraps.
We have a handful of these types of small tables.
This is the perfect size table.  It works as a coffee table, or side table.  I have used this in many situations.  On our covered front porch with metal chairs, in between two side chairs in the living room.  It has held out computer tower and printer.  A great, overall, easy to move around table.

Another Walmart ooops paint.  This one in a lovely terra-cotta color.
I black washed the top, the bottom shelf and sides.  Left the legs orange'ish.
After looking through all of the stencils, I chose the word believe because its universal and honestly, I loved the E.  ;)

Piano Bench Before and After Chalk Painted

Picked up this piano bench at a junk store for five bucks.
LOVE the height, depth and width of this piece.
Very simple straight lines.

I'd already begun painting it when I realized that I hadnt taken any "before" shots.  Quickly I snapped off these two photo's.  The inside of the legs had already been painted.  Ooops!

Stay tuned for the finished piece.
As of this posting, I still do not know what it will be like.  It's not really talking to me.

This table needed to be simple, but elegant.  No fancy stenciling or hand painting.
Simple frame dry-brushed on the top and all four sides.
The shadowing was a test.  Proves I need more work in that area.  ;)

Wood carved cart

My newest acquisition.
I was told it is a flower cart, but when I look at it, I see a rolling bar.

Bottles in the little holder and plenty of storage for others on the bottom.  I have very cool decanters that would display lovely on top, along with an assortment of cocktail and wine glasses.
Maybe even a couple of the vintage shot glasses from my collection.

The top is in need of repair.  Its beginning to bubble a bit.  Nothing I am to worried about.  The little leg in the back that supports the table when its not being moved is a bit wobbly, again nothing I am to worried over.

Now, if only I could decide on a design and color.
Any idea's or inspiration?

Jewelry Box Mirror

Sooo, this is a jewelry box I picked up at a local junk store.  Paid 18$ for it.
It was way up on a wall in the store, and I had no idea it opened and was actually a jewelry box with a mirror.  When she brought it down for me, and I opened it to find the treasure inside, I was sold.
I knew immediately it had to be black.
My long term intentions are to highlight some of the scroll work with silver.  Maybe painting the whole thing silver and wiping it off to show the black underneath.
For now, though... I shall enjoy it black.

I have yet to find a place for this cool new item.  Soon as I do, I will post pics in its new home!

Side/End Table Chalk Painted

Found this table at a junk sale.  I think I paid maybe 10 bucks for it.  You can't tell from this pic, but the bottom shelf is messed up.  Usually, I keep a cool tray down there.
The color just isnt working for me.  I am done with the wood look.

This is a made up color from the blue on the coffee table.  I added yellow until I liked the shade.
Added plaster of paris to make it chalky.
The accents are black and I free-handed the stripes and dots on top.  No comments, necessary ;)

Nude Woman Hubcap

I know nothing about these beauties.
Have a pair of 'em.
They are a wonderful chrome and she is three dimensional.
Currently they are postioned on each side of the mirror in our makeshift bar area in the basement.
That gal thinks its cold all the time ;)

My Situation Room Desk Chalk Painted

Ok, so I've had this desk for about seven years.  I love love love the diminutive size and how it holds a lap top perfectly with no room for clutter.
As you can tell, tho....
Its seen way better days.  Its literally worn down.  I use the you-know-what out of this desk.

Before, The front view

I have considered painting this tired desk for many years.  Well, 2014 was the year.
I found this paint in the ooops department at Walmart.  Its a flat paint.  A sorta khaki color, or sometimes a grayish color.  I mixed this paint into chalk paint with plaster of paris added and slapped it on, two coats.
Took me two days to do the stenciling.
I had no idea in mind when I began.  Just let the desk tell me what it wanted.

Ta Da!!

In this picture the stencil is a glorified Peace sign.  Look close in the middle, you'll find it.  ;)
If you walked into my Situation Room, you'd see this view.

This picture is of the back.
There is a drawer for the lucky person who gets to love this desk.

The top.  I thought of doing more, but in this case, since there is always a lap top sitting there, I think less is better.

From the side.
Like the wood look?  Its just a paint technique.
